Bungie has this week launched the Refer a Friend initiative for its shared-world shooter, Destiny, offering gamers who take part the chance to nab exclusive in-game rewards.
The former Halo developer posted a detailed outline of the program on its official Destiny website, which you can check out below.
"Recruit Guardians to defend The City. When you refer your friends to Destiny, you will both be eligible for exclusive rewards. Recruits must purchase and activate Destiny: The Taken King on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Linked Friends must be on the same platform to be eligible for rewards. Unite your efforts to push back the Darkness and earn additional XP through the Link of Friendship. Complete the Speaker’s Quest with your Linked Friend and be rewarded.
"Treasures await Linked Friends. Earn team Emotes, display your friendship with a new Emblem and Shader, speed through the Cosmodrome on an exclusive Sparrow, or wield the elements with one of three new legendary swords."
Refer a Friend offers the following exclusive content reward.
- Elemental Kinblades
- EV-34 Vector Indinite
- Duo Dance
- High Five
- Infinite Link
- Sign of the infinite
Destiny was released in September last year for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The game received two DLC packs, The Dark Below and House of Wolves in December 2014 and May 2015, respectively, before Bungie released the major expansion The Taken King in September of this year, introducing a wealth of new content for the main campaign and the multiplayer component. The Taken King proved a massive success too, topping the U.K. All Format Chart and selling the majority of physical copies on the PS4. Check out details on the next major Destiny patch to find out what Bungie has in store for the game.
Destiny recently introduced microtransactions into the equation, offering Guardians the chance to purchase new emotes in exchange for real-life cash (aka Silver). While many gamers remain sceptical over the use of microtransactions in games, the feature has nonetheless proved highly popular with PlayStation gamers.
