Microtransactions have officially hit Destiny with patch 2.0.1 (that is, for those of you who are lucky enough to have downloaded it without issue), with gamers now able to part with their hard-earned cash in order to flesh out their Emote arsenal with some all-new moves.
Silver is the new currency used to purchase Emotes at the newly launched Eververse Trading Company, and all Guardians start off with 400 Silver. In other words, Bungie’s letting you have two Emotes for free, as they sell for 200 Silver each. Not a bad gesture, as it least gives you the chance to see what’s on offer and whether or not you think it’s worth shelling out the cash for more of them later on. Legendary Emotes cost a bit more however, and sell for 500 Silver each.
The Silver comes in three different flavours: 500 ($4.99/£3.99), 1,100 ($9.99/£7.99), and 2,300 ($19.99/£15.99). There are 18 Emotes in total to purchase at the time of writing, so if you’re feeling flash and want to grab them all, it will cost you around $45. At present, it remains unknown if Bungie will be offering more items through the Eververs Trading Company later down the line. For now, the Emotes are simply a bit of fun; they do not affect gameplay in any shape or form.

Destiny: The Taken King was released on September 15 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The expansion introduces a wealth of changes to the shared-world shooter, including a new levelling system, where your character’s level and Light Level are two separate entities. The content was well-received, topping the U.K. All Format Charts upon release and selling the majority of copies on the PS4. In addition to revamping the levelling system, The Taken King also introduces a new Guardian subclass for each character type (Titan, Warlock and Hunter), and implements a brand new Raid. New exotic weapons have also been added, and tweaks have been made to the Nightfall/Heroic Strike playlist.
