Destiny’s latest update, v.2.0.1. is now live across all formats following the weekly update yesterday, although it appears PlayStation 4 owners are experiencing some issues when attempting to grab the patch.
Chiefly, some players are being required to re-download the full patch history for Bungie’s shared-world shooter, which clocks in at a massive 18GB. In reality, the update is only supposed to be around 500MB. In some cases, gamers are reporting that their download is flagged up as 1.17, when it’s clearly meant to be 2.0.1 as previously outlined by the studio.
Fortunately, Bungie is well aware of the issues that are being reported by PS4 users, and has offered a series of solutions for those of you getting into a panic over the matter. See below for full details (via product-reviews).

Thank you for your report of this issue. We are actively investigating why some players on PlayStation 4 are being required to re-download the full 18GB patch history. We are also aware that this patch may be showing up as Patch 1.17 on the console instead of Patch 2.0.1, this appears to be a client version of the patch number. We apologise for the inconvenience, but please continue our download.
From player reports, please note the following additional information:
-If you are encountering a ‘corrupt data’ error message, you may want to stop your download, clear your console cache, and then restart the download.
-Some players are reporting that while the download says it’s a full 18GB, it actually only downloads today’s small patch. This is the expected behaviour of PlayStation 4 downloads. However, we are still investigating the reports from some players that they are being required to re-download the full 18GB."
Destiny: The Taken King was unleashed on September 15, and became PlayStation’s biggest downloaded game in terms of day-one sales. The expansion also topped the U.K. All Format Chart upon release, with the majority of sales going to the PS4 version of the shared-world shooter. Bungie recently added microtransactions to the game in the shape of the Eververse Trading Company, which flogs gamers new emotes in exchange for your hard-earned cash.
