Rockstar Games has officially confirmed on its website that the Grand Theft Auto VI preload will kick off on November 10, 2026, nine days before the highly anticipated crime epic launches for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
For the PS5, digital pre-ordering is set to kick off on November 10 at midnight local time, while the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI — which is actually just a code in a box — will be available from retailers starting November 12. Rockstar notes that the “preload file will require up to 212 GB depending on your device,” almost matching the 210 GB figure revealed last week by PlayStation Game Size on X.
On November 19 we will be adding an official printable Grand Theft Auto VI cover art poster and map of Leonida as a free digital download to the official site. A double-sided physical version of this poster will also be made available shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store — for $0.99 on its own or as a free gift with any purchase from the Rockstar Store.
Last week, EDGE magazine provided a huge info blowout on Grand Theft Auto VI in its latest issue, revealing the game’s map is as big as the maps of GTA IV, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2, with Rockstar also implementing a full bus and train service across its sprawling open-world. NPCs are also far more advanced that previous games, having been assigned their own personality traits and temperament.
Set in Vice City and surrounding area, GTA VI follows criminal couple Lucia and Jason in the Florida-inspired state of Leonida, as they become embroiled in a nationwide conspiracy and must look out for each other. The game features multiple nods to 2020s American culture, including social media, Internet memes, and influencer culture.
