Torn Banner Studios has announced that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare will run at 1080p on both formats. In terms of frame-rate however, the version on Sony’s console will clock in at 60pfs while the Xbox One release runs at 30fps.
While the game is also available on last-generation machines, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title will support dedicated servers for the multiplayer component, which supports 24 players—double the amount of the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of the game.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare will be released digitally for the PS4 on Wednesday, December 2. The Xbox One version arrives the day before. Set in a fictional world taking inspiration from the Middle Ages, the game shares many similarities with Age of Chivalry, the Half-Life 2 mod previously released by Torn Banner Studios. Two factions are available to select from, the Agathian Knights or the Mason Order, each allowing played to pick from four character classes featuring different skills and load-outs. From here, gamers can take part in brutal melee combat against their enemies from a first or third-person perspective, wielding a variety of medieval weapons, including maces, swords, and longbows.
In particular, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is noted for its application of extreme gore, allowing players to dismember and decapitate their adversaries in battle. While the game features some limited single-player combat, Medieval Warfare is primarily focused on multiplayer battles, and includes a series of different game modes to facilitate this. Among the modes you can play include Free For All, Duel, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Last Team Standing.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare was originally released on the PC in October 2012 and arrived on last-gen systems in winter 2014.
