One of several announcements at tonight’s Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event in Los Angeles tonight was for a short-form anime mini-series titled Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. A total of five episodes will stream for free with subtitles on YouTube and Crunchyroll leading up to the release of the main game.
The anime acts as a direct prequel to the events of the main game and explores Noctis’s friendship with his comrades who he travels with: Ignis, Gladiolus, Prompto. The story also ties directly into the new free demo (available now).
Brotherhood is produced by famed Japanese anime studio A-1 Pictures, best known for Sword Art Online, Anohana, Your Lie in April, and most recently ERASED. Being a short-form series, its episodes clock in at a digestible runtimes of less than fifteen minutes.
A full-length FFVII: Advent Children-esque CG animated film titled Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV was announced as well and centers on Noctis’s father King Regis.
Final Fantasy XV launches on September 30, 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Check out the latest trailer here.
