Capcom has confirmed via a new trailer that Resident Evil spin-off Umbrella Corps has been delayed until June 21.
The squad-based shooter was originally pencilled in for release in May 2016; however, the trailer reveals that the title has now been pushed back by one month. Not a bad idea, as May is packed full of massive releases, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Check out the new trailer below, which focuses on the game’s customisation options.
Umbrella Corps pits gamers against each other as members of the nefarious pharmaceutical company’s special forces unit. Set in the Resident Evil universe, the game will feature a number of familiar locations, including the village from Resident Evil 4 and Kijuju from the series’ fifth instalment.
As you’d expect, gamers will also come up against legions of zombies, ganado and other mutated creatures from the survival horror franchise as they battle it out against each other. Despite focusing on multiplayer online warfare, Umbrella Corps will still offer solo players some action with a variety of single-player challenges.
Resident Evil celebrated its 20th anniversary on March 22, 2016. Capcom is currently working on a full-fledged remake of 1998’s Resident Evil 2, and will presumably have more announcements regarding the future of the series to make later this year.
For now, gamers have the remastered Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 6 to keep them busy on PS4. Capcom will release spruced up current-generation ports of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 4 in summer and fall, respectively.
