Toadman Interactive is one of the threes studios that have announced they are closing down less than two weeks into the New Year, as the industry continues to suffer from major layoffs that have been ongoing for more than 18 months now.
Enad Global 7, the parent company for Toadman Interactive, issued the following statement regarding the studio’s closure.
This decision does not come lightly and follows several initiatives to turn the subsidiary profitable, including the cost-saving measures executed last year. Ongoing Work-for-Hire (WFH) contracts with Daybreak and Cold Iron will be protected in this process, this means that a complete closure of activities will be optimized to fulfill the contract’s deliverables. This will have an immediate effect on all employees not engaged in these contracts.

Meanwhile, Piranha Game Studio has been hit by 38 job losses following Mechwarrior’s latest outing failed to reach sales expectations.
The team at Piranha truly delivered a high-quality game that exceeded both internal as well as external expectations in terms of quality, story and gameplay. Despite the phenomenal work by the team at Piranha, the game failed to reach new audiences and expand its core audience as anticipated and therefore has not met the necessary sales targets, which has forced us to undertake necessary actions.
Two other studios have also reportedly been shuttered in the form of Freejam (Robotcraft 2) and Counterplay Games (Godfall). In regards to the former, Robocraft 2 and its predecessor will be sunset “over the coming weeks.” Meanwhile, Jackalyptic Games recently they were working on a project with Counterplay Games but the studio folded last month.
Unfortunately we were unable to continue our partnership into the new year and CPG was disbanded.
