F1 2016, the latest entry in the venerable, fast-paced racing franchise, will be hitting PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One in summer 2016, developer Codemasters has announced.
The British studio confirmed that this year’s Formula One title will include the ‘most immersive’ career mode in the franchise to date, which allows gamers to pick an avatar and sign an F1 contract before working their way up through the ranks.
As your performance improves, you’ll be able to access new contracts with different teams, or opt to develop their current team into ‘a championship contender.’
In addition, the Safety Car is also making a comeback this year alongside the Virtual Safety Car, while a new track set in Azerbaijan will make its debut in F1 2016. Those of you who pick up the Day One Limited Edition will bag the exclusive Career Booster DLC pack.
"F1 2016 is a massive step forward for the franchise," said Lee Mather, principal games designer at Codemasters. "The new career mode sits at the heart of the game and allows gamers to create their own legend over a career that can span for up to a massive ten seasons.
"Beyond improving upon the fastest and most thrilling on-track racing experience in gaming, F1 2016 uniquely offers the drama and vehicle development that goes on behind the scenes. A rich car upgrade system is fully integrated into a new and deep practice development programme which mirrors the tests carried out by the teams in real life."
He added: "The career mode, together with the re-introduction of the Safety Car, the first inclusion of the Virtual Safety Car and a number of other unannounced improvements means that F1 2016 will have more new features than any other year of the franchise.”
F1 2016 has yet to attract a concrete release date, though we hope to hear something soon. Stay tuned to PSU for more details.
