Final Fantasy XV release date set for late September
Square Enix confirmed during a special event in March that Final Fantasy XV will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 30, 2016. This puts the game out over ten years since its initial announcement back at E3 2006 as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
The game adopts a more action-oriented combat approach to previous entries in the venerable JRPG franchise, and also sees the return of an open-world to explore, allowing players to tackle numerous side quests if they see fit.
Unsurprisingly, Final Fantasy XV is set to be a pretty meaty adventure as a result, with Square Enix’s development team stating the game will last around 200 hours in total.
Elsewhere, the accompanying animated movie, Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV, will launch on Blu-ray in the U.S. on October 4 following its debut in select cinemas from August 19.
