Destiny PlayStation-exclusive content extended into 2017

Bungie has confirmed that Destiny: The Taken King’s PlayStation-exclusive content will remain so for another year.

Originally, the content was set to remain exclusive to Sony formats until at least 2016, although Bungie has since amended the game’s official info page to confirm that the period of exclusivity extends to fall 2017.

Presumably, the change has come to pass as a result of Destiny 2 being delayed until 2017 from its original target window of fall 2016. Still, this probably isn’t much of a comfort to Xbox One owners, who will have to wait at least another year to get their hands on content that PlayStation fans have been enjoying since last September.

Destiny’s latest expansion, Rise of Iron, is scheduled to arrive on PS4 and Xbox One on September 20. In addition, Bungie is also releasing Destiny: The Collection on the same day, which includes the base game plus all four expansions.

PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are being left somewhat in the cold however, as the former Halo developer is cooling off support for last-generation versions of Destiny. As such, Rise of Iron won’t be available for Legacy Platforms.
