PS4 Neo official reveal set for New York

GameStop has fueled rumors that Sony is set to reveal the PS4 Neo during an event in New York City early next month.

Speaking during an earnings call yesterday, the retail giant briefly touched base on the upcoming PS4 revamp, stating “We’ll know more obviously after September 7,” referencing the date when the PlayStation Meeting is set to take place.

Sony confirmed the existence of the PS4 Neo during an interview with the Financial Times a week prior to E3. The system is not designed to replace the existing PS4, but rather offer consumers the option of playing games with increased visual fidelity and other improvements.

PS4 Neo release date not yet confirmed

The console maker has not yet confirmed a PS4 Neo release date, although rumors have suggested it may launch as anywhere between late 2016 and spring 2017. The PS4 Neo price has also yet to be determined. Sony did, however, confirm that the device was not powering any of its E3 2016 demos.

Elsewhere, Sony is busy dealing with the fallout of the PS4 Slim leak from earlier this week, when the console appeared on Gumtree and eBay. The system has not yet received an official announcement, although images and videos have confirmed it’s the real deal.

In addition to offering a slimmer PS4 console to replace the existing model, Sony is also updating the DualShock 4 controller, which includes a new light bar above the touchpad.
