Final Fantasy 15 looks amazing on PS4, but there’s a small resolution price to pay

Hajime Tabata, director on Final Fantasy 15, has revealed a few new details on the hotly anticipated JRPG’s technical performance on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during the latest Active Time Report broadcast.

Specifically, Tabata-san confirmed that the Final Fantasy 15 PS4 resolution will clock in between 900p-1080p, while the Xbox One version of the game will run between 765p-900p. Evidently, there’s been some compromise in order to have the game running smoothly.

In terms of frame rate, Square Enix was a little less forthcoming, with Tabata-san only saying that Final Fantasy XV ‘holds close to’ 30fps.

Final Fantasy 15 release date

Final Fantasy 15 is scheduled for release on PS4 and Xbox One on November 29, 2016. The game was originally due to ship on September 30, but was delayed in order to allow time for additional polishing.

The project has endured a tumultuous development history, having originally been announced over ten years ago as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a PS3-exclusive addition to the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

However, after long periods of silence on the game, Square Enix later scrapped development of Versus XIII back when it was roughly 25 percent complete, and re-revealed the title as FFXV during Sony’s E3 2013 presentation
