Final Fantasy XV officially delayed to November 2016

Square Enix has officially announced a Final Fantasy XV delay following reports over the weekend, confirming the hotly anticipated JRPG will now ship worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29, 2016.

The news probably shouldn’t come as too much of a shock for regular readers, as the delay had been all but confirmed via numerous sources just a few days ago. Plus, we’ve waited over ten years for the game, what’s another two months, right?

From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this,” commented Final Fantasy XV Game Director, Hajime Tabata.

As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want FINAL FANTASY XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.

You can hear what Tabata-san had to say in the full video message below.

Final Fantasy XV was originally scheduled for release on September 30, 2016. The game was originally in development as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII before production shifted to current-generation consoles back in 2012.
