PS4 launch game Knack is getting PS4 Pro support

PlayStation 4 architect Mark Cerny has seemingly revealed that Sony will be patching launch game Knack with PS4 Pro support.

Knack PS4 Pro support coming, but is it enough to revisit the game?

The news dropped during an interview with Engadget, where Cerny was chatting about the upcoming high-end PS4 model. Towards the end of his natter, the designer showcased Knack running on PS4 Pro and on a regular PS4, with the site taking note of the differences between both versions of the game. Evidently, this all but confirms Knack is being updated with PS4 Pro support at some point in the future.

"So if we look at the scene, again, it’s very clean, smooth. But if I were to do this on — " (switching to the PS4 TV and sighing). "Look at all the moiré, or all of the shimmery noise in the distance. And this is what we see when we play games on an HDTV and we’ve learned to ignore it."

Knack was released alongside Sony’s current-generation home console in November 2013, though is perhaps remembered as one of the most underwhelming of titles that PS4 coughed up in its first few months on the market. The game was developed by SCE Studio Japan, with Cerny serving as the director on the project.

Unfortunately, the game failed to impress critics at the time, who despite being won over by its visual charm and interesting concept, found more than enough niggles with its stale gameplay and underwhelming narrative. Indeed, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida would later express his disappointment at Knack’s reception, saying he hoped it would have scored in the 70s. As it stands, Knack has a Metacritic of 54/100.
