Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure sequel, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has added another award to its already-impressive lineup of trophies since the title launched in May 2016.
This time around, Nathan Drake’s epic swansong scooped the award for Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing at the recent Writers Guild Awards. The critically acclaimed title beat the likes of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Far Cry Primal, and Mr. Robot to bag the prize.
Games were required to have been released between the period of December 1, 2015 and November 30, 2016 and feature an end-game credits sequence to be eligible for the award. The panel of judges featured a number of individuals who are “active in video game writing.” Uncharted 4 has picked up numerous accolades since its release, including scooping Best Narrative and Best Performance (for Nolan North as Drake) at December’s Game Awards.
Uncharted 4 is the final entry in the long-running franchise from Naughty Dog, although the Santa Monica-based studio is still working on one final slice of content for the game in the shape of the standalone expansion, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. In addition, it has continued to support the game’s multiplayer mode since launch, and recently rolled out a new update for online players to tuck into.
While the future of Uncharted currently remains up in the air, Naughty Dog has not ruled out the possibility of another studio stepping up to produce Uncharted 5. It doesn’t seem likely Sony would want to see the end of the fortune-hunting series either, seeing as how Uncharted 4 alone has sold over eight million copies worldwide to date.
