NieR ‘What are you doing?’ trophy
Whether you’re a fan of the original NieR and are eagerly anticipating its successor or you just want to kick ass as a kick-ass android lady, NieR: Automata has got a fair bit of hype surrounding it right now. While the game doesn’t release stateside until March 7, it launched in Japan today, and some players have discovered a, uh, unique hidden trophy that you can unlock.
The trophy in question is called “What are you doing?” and unlocks only after you pan the camera to see 2B’s underwear 10 times. That’s right, you don’t have to perv on the main character just once; you’ve got to do this ten times if you want NieR: Automata’s Platinum trophy. We won’t post the gif here for the sake of decency, but you can check it out on this Reddit thread if you’re so inclined.
NieR: Automata isn’t actually the first game to lock a trophy or achievement behind such a lewd act. The 2012 title Lollipop Chainsaw from Grasshopper Manufacture also makes you try to look under protagonist Juliet’s skirt to unlock the trophy “I swear! I did it by mistake!” but at least that pops after just a single peek, as opposed to making you do it nearly a dozen times.
If you’re not interested in trophies, you can go the entire game without even knowing about this one, but if you’re a completionist who loves their Platinums, prepare yourself for a bit of discomfort while unlocking this one.
