However, we were given some details in a recent Twitter post that teased an attack on the Numbani map, reading: "[BREAKING] OR15 defense units destroyed in confrontation with unidentified assailant at Numbani airport. No civilian casualties reported."
The attack’s aftermath was then illustrated in the latest PTR update, and notably, the glass containing Doomfist’s weapon has been smashed and the item removed from its resting place. This would indicate that Doomfist is the next character in line, although Efi Oladele is also a hot contender following the the robotics expert’s reveal that ties in with recent talk of OR15 units.
Speaking in an ‘interview,’ Oladele commented, "I want to create things that make our lives better. And someday, my dream is to build something that can keep us safe, like the new OR15s! I think that would be great." This was then followed by a Tweet: "Genius grant recipient and Numbani local Efi Oladele posts curious image on her holovid channel, declaring: ‘Time to get to work!’
Elsewhere, Overwatch Game Director, Jeff Kaplan, said that Blizzard is busy working on multiple hero units and that its main priority is the launch of a new character.
"We have multiple new heroes being worked on right now plus numerous events and event-related content," he said. "We’re always asking ourselves ‘what would make the biggest impact for the most people’ when we prioritise. Right now, we feel like introducing a new hero to the line up would be more impactful to the game. Hope that makes sense."
