Ghost Recon Wildlands reviews roll-out

Ubisoft’s latest entry in the long-running Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise hits stores worldwide tomorrow for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and it’s received something of a refreshingly makeover. Gone is the linear progression of past entries, replaced instead by a sprawling open-world Bolivia ripe for exploration and oozing with side quests, with an emphasis on tactical, squad-based play as you team with up to four players to take down a nefarious drug lord with an array of high-tech weaponry.

Ghost Recon Wildlands packs a meaty punch in the sandbox ring, offering a diverse landscape to traverse including salt flats, deserts, forests, and mountainous regions, complete with all the staples of an open-world that you’d expect, such as full day-night cycle and dynamic weather. Character customisation is also plentiful, with players able to hoover up XP to fuel weapon upgrades as they progress through the game, and the much-touted unscripted enemy AI will ensure firefights are far from the perfunctory battles you’ve become used to in past entries, with foes fueled by their own motivation and agendas.

Indeed, you can’t fault Ubisoft for being anything less than ambitious with Ghost Recon Wildlands. With the biggest sandbox in the French publishing giant’s history, how does it function as an enjoyable gameplay experience? Is the world alive and brimming with authenticity, or does it fall foul of the curse of barren wastelands devoid of personality? How does combat fare? The critics have spoken, and the results are in, so check out our Ghost Recon Wildlands reviews roundup below. Stay tuned for more scores as they drop.
