Digital Foundry is reporting that the upcoming Tekken 7 runs at 900p on PS4, having tested both the regular and PSVR versions of the upcoming fighting game sequel.
The pixel wizards noted that this results in a softer image overall but did note that the version of the game was a master copy, which is essentially the step before the final version of the game. In other words, there’s a chance that some last-minute tweaks could be applied to the resolution prior to release.
Tekken 7 resolution tested
However, while the game will apparently miss a silky smooth 1080p, the advantage of a slighter lower resolution means that Tekken 7 will run at 60fps. Sadly, there’s no word on how the game performs on the PS4 Pro, although it’s worth remembering that producer Katsuhiro Harada said that this version of Tekken 7 will boast noticeably improved visuals.
Tekken 7 is scheduled for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, with PS VR support also available for Sony’s flagship home console. The game features a number of new features, including Rage Arts and Tailspin attacks, plus introduces a host of fresh faces such as the series’ first ever Saudi Arabian combatant, Shaheen. The storyline focuses on the conclusion of the long-running Mishima family feud, which sees Heihachi and Kazuya battling it out following the reappearance of Kazumi Mishima, who was previously thought to have been killed at Heihachi’s hands.
In addition to the standard version of the game, Bandai Namco Games is also offering a collector’s edition of Tekken 7, which features a host of extra goodies including a statue of Heihachi and Kazuya locked in combat.
