New Assassin’s Creed gameplay details rumored

Fresh details on the new Assassin’s Creed game, have surfaced on WWG, offering some insight into the direction of the the next chapter in Ubisoft’s multi-million selling stealth-action franchise.

The website cites that anonymous sources from Ubisoft have said Assassin’s Creed Origins will see the return of naval combat and will prove less linear than its predecessors, with greater emphasis on exploration this time around. As previously mentioned, the new Assassin’s Creed game will be set in ancient Egypt, but WWG has now said that we may be able to travel the seas to other locations such as Greece.

Unsurprisingly, Assassin’s Creed Origins looks set to be the biggest entry yet in the long-running series, and will be reportedly unveiled for the first time at E3 next month. The project is said to have been in the works for “at least” several years now, which isn’t a surprise considering Ubisoft hasn’t released a mainline title since 2015. What’s more, Origins will allegedly feature a male and female protagonist similar to what was employed in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.

Response to the new game internally is set to be very positive, and one source that WWG spoke to apparently compared it to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim numerous times. The report also backs up claims from Ubisoft last year that cited the new game would be less scripted than the past few titles.

Assassin’s Creed is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, having launched on the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 back in November 2007. The series has gone on to become one of the most successful videogame franchises to date, spawning multiple spinoffs, a movie, comic books, action figures, and selling over 73 million copies to date.

The French publishing giant confirmed in 2016 that it would be giving the series a break from its traditional annual release schedule in order to ‘re-evaluate’ the brand.
