Sony has yet to announce an official God of War release date, although voice actor Christopher Judge has given our strongest hint yet that the title may not see the light of day in 2017.
According to Judge’s Twitter profile, the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 action title will launch in 2018. The Kratos voice actor listed ‘God of War (2018)’ on his profile, having previously suggested the game would hit stores this year. Oddly enough, the Twitter account has now removed any mention of a date, possibly indicating that Sony wants to keep things hush-hush.
Just recently, it was rumored God of War would hit stores in September 2017 after it appeared on a Portuguese retailer’s website. Elsewhere, developer Sony Santa Monica has been drip-feeding fans new details on Twitter, with the game’s director, Cory Barlog, suggesting Kratos’ latest adventure will have a better storyline than previous entries in the franchise.
God of War PS4 is the latest instalment in Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive, bone-breaking action franchise, and sees returning anti-hero Kratos teaming up with his young son to slaughter more hulking creatures, this time based around Norse mythology. The stoic baldy has learned to somewhat master his rage this time around, and we’re promised a substantial single-player campaign although the inclusion of multiplayer currently remains up in the air.
Following its debut at E3 2016, the God of War gameplay reveal trailer has amassed a staggering 17 million views on YouTube, beating out the likes of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
