New details on the hotly anticipated God of War have been revealed on the game’s official website.
One particularly interesting tidbit garnered from the info is that protagonist Kratos will have the chance to master his blood-thirsty rage. This ties in with what we’ve seen so far in the trailer, where the muscle-bound anti-hero was seen to keep his cool under stressful circumstances.

WHAT LIES AHEAD
It is a new beginning for Kratos. Living as a man, outside the shadow of the gods, he seeks solitude in the unfamiliar lands of Norse mythology. With new purpose and his son at his side, Kratos must fight for survival as powerful forces threaten to disrupt the new life he has created…
A NEW BEGINNING
His vengeance against the gods of Olympus far behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the lands of the Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…and teach his son to do the same.
SECOND CHANCES
As mentor and protector to a son determined to earn his respect, Kratos is faced with an unexpected opportunity to master the rage that has long defined him. Questioning the dark lineage he’s passed on to his son, he hopes to make amends for the shortcomings of his past.
MIGARD AND BEYOND
Set within the untamed forests, mountains, and realms of Norse lore, God of War features a distinctly new setting with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods.
VICIOUS, PHYSICAL COMBAT
With an intimate, over-the-shoulder free camera that brings the action closer than ever, combat in God of War is up close, frenetic, and unflinching. Kratos’ axe – powerful, magic and multi-faceted – is a brutal weapon as well as a versatile tool for exploration.
God of War announced at E3 2016 with stunning gameplay trailer
God of War was announced during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference last Monday via a lengthy gameplay demonstration.
The game takes place after the events of God of War, although this time around Kratos is mixing it up with various beasties plucked from Norse mythology. It’ll also feature an in-depth RPG system and no loading screens.
Developer Sony Santa Monica Studio revealed that the E3 demo was running at 30fps, and this is the likely frame rate target for the final product. God of War has yet to attract a release date, though is expected to drop in 2017.
