Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed an Overwatch double XP event for this weekend across PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
Players who log in between June 8 – June 12 will be able to gobble up loot boxes twice as fast thanks to this initiative, which signals the end of Blizzard’s Overwatch anniversary event. With any luck, you’ll be able to bag some of the game’s incredibly rare and highly-sought legendary skins in the process.
The Overwatch double XP weekend commences at 5.00pm PST on June 8 and wraps up at 11.50pm PST on June 12. The multiplier will apply to “nearly all sources of in-game XP,” Blizzard said, including XP gained from time spent in a match, completing a match, obtaining medals, and more. It won’t, however, count towards the 1,500 XP bonus gained from your first match of the day.
The Overwatch anniversary celebrations kicked off on May 23 and rolled out a series of new cosmetic items, including 11 legendary character skins. Despite this, many gamers were voiced their disdain at how difficult the skins were to obtain, prompting Overwatch’s game director, Jeff Kaplan, to assure players that “we are listening” in regards to criticism.
