Destiny 2 gamers NOT happy with Bungie’s weapon changes, PvE affected

The Destiny 2 beta has been doing the rounds for the past couple of days now for early access players, but it seems that hardcore fans aren’t too happy with some of the  changes Bungie has implemented into its first-person shooter.

Chiefly, a perceived focus on weapon balancing for PvP has resulted in the PvE experience taking a bit of a hit in terms of overall enjoyment. Gamers have already been flocking to Reddit to discuss the issues, which detail how Bungie has reshuffled weapon classes in Destiny 2 by introducing the new Power category. This accommodates weapons such as the Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, and other heavy weapons such as Grenade Launchers, which eat the ultra-rare Power Ammo.

While this has been met with favourable feedback for PvP, it hasn’t gone done well with those of you who have been dipping into the other areas of the beta, such as the Inverted Spire Strike. For example, you can’t now snipe enemies from a distance for heavy damage before quickly swapping to your primary weapon, or equipping a Shotgun to quickly deal with foes at close range. Essentially, folk aren’t happy about the fact Bungie are attempting to cram so many weapons under one banner, with Rocket Launchers, Machine-guns and now Shotguns and Sniper Rifles sharing the same category.

The problems are most noticeable in the boss fight on the Inverted Spire, which forces you to use our primary weapons for most of the fight due to the lack of Power Ammo. Gamers have noted that the bullet-sponge baddie at the end isn’t interesting to fight due to the fact your most powerful weapons the necessary ammo drops. Yes, the original Destiny was criticised for bosses that tended to soak up damage like it was nothing, but Heavy Ammo was more plentiful allowing you to inflict greater damage. Elsewhere, criticism has been raised at the apparent downgrade in damage that grenades have received, plus the fact Super abilities now take far longer to recharge—again, something that Bungie has done in order to even things up in PvP, and in return negatively affects PvE shenanigans.
