Assassin’s Creed Origins brings back classic tomb raiding levels

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Origins will be introducing some classic tombs that echo the stages seen in Assassin’s Creed 2.

Speaking in the latest issue of OPM (via GamesRadar), the game’s creative director, Ashraf Ismail, confirmed that the Egyptian-based adventure will offer more realistic tomb raiding experience, which will no doubt please fans who enjoys the Assassin Tombs featured in Ubisoft’s 2009 action-adventure game.

We have quite a few tombs in the game, and they range from being classical puzzles to navigation puzzles and navigation challenges,” said Ismail.  “A lot of them are actually built off of the actual true tombs that we’ve researched,” he added. “Now, of course, we have a bit of fun and go a bit further, like, what are the secret chambers that have not been discovered yet?

Evidently Ubisoft has gone to a lot of effort to incorporate these tomb segments into Assassin’s Creed Origins, and the fact authenticity is paramount to their inclusion should make for an interesting gameplay experience.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is due for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in October. The game focuses on the genesis of the series’ titular organisation, and sees players controlling Bayek; a Medjay operating in Ptolemaic Egypt who projects his people from local threats.

Much like 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the open-world adventure game does not feature a multiplayer mode, instead focusing on an extensive campaign. It’ll also, curiously, feature a battle with a giant snake, although Ubisoft has insisted there’s a reason for its inclusion.

While the game features both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X support, early previews suggest that there isn’t much of a difference between both versions of the title.
