Horizon: Zero Dawn The Frozen Wilds DLC release date announced

Horizon Zero Dawn was a smash-hit when it released for PlayStation 4 earlier this year, beating out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to top the charts, achieving an 89 on Metacritic, and selling over 2.6 million copies in two weeks. Its success has made it the PS4’s best-selling new IP to come from one of Sony’s own first-party studios. And as of April 30, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold over 3.4 million copies.

Due to the very positive response both critically and commercially, it came as no surprise when Sony announced The Frozen Wilds at E3 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn’s first (and possibly only) expansion. Not too much information was given, but we do know that the expansion takes place in the snowy north of the region, will features new mysteries to uncover, and sees Aloy taking on machines she’s not faced before.

No release date was given at the time, but we now have confirmation that The Frozen Wilds will launch on November 7 – which is the exact same day that Microsoft will be launching their PlayStation 4 Pro competitor, the Xbox One X, as well as Crackdown 3.

Whilst you wait for the expansion to drop, pre-ordering via the PlayStation Store will save you some money (the amount varying by region). And if you haven’t already, check out the trailer for the expansion.
