The Witcher 4 is not on the cards, says voice actor

The voice actor behind The Witcher protagonist Geralt has said that he’s not aware of any new entry in the franchise under way at CD Projekt RED.

Speaking at EGX today, Doug Cockle revealed that the company is very much focused on its new IP, CyberPunk 2077.

I know nothing about The Witcher 4,” said Cockle during a panel at EGX 2017 today discussing his future work. “I know they’re very much focusing on Cyberpunk.”

What I have discussed is the idea of me being involved somehow,” he said of the upcoming title. “Whether that’s a major part or just an easter egg. I hope so, I really enjoy working with them. But I haven’t had significant contact. We have jokingly talked about it.

Cockle had nothing but positive things to say about The Witcher series in light of returning to acting full-time:

It’s really cool to be part of something that’s that long,” he said. “Something where you get to go back to the character over time, as the writers give him more of a life, more emotional situations. It’s been a great experience.”

CD Projekt RED had previously refused to rule out a new instalment in the fantasy-RPG series, although admitted they were originally conceived as as trilogy.

The Witcher is based on the medieval fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and launched for the PC back in 2009. The game was followed by two sequels: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in 2011 and 2015 respectively.

Wild Hunt was a huge critical and commercial success, shipping nearly 10 million copies worldwide as of March 2016. The game was supported by extensive post-launch content, including the expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, and also received a Game of the Year Edition release.

Despite the popularity of the series, The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are not likely to be ported to PS4 anytime soon.
