The Guardian is reporting that ITV Player and 4oD will be making the jump to PlayStation 3 later this week.
The ITV and Channel 4 catch-up services follow hot on the heels of the BBC’s iPlayer, which arrived on Sony’s black box earlier in the year to great success.
ITV head honcho Robin Pembroke commented that the arrival of the broadcaster’s service on PS3 signals an "acceleration of our distribution strategy,” further adding that shows including Coronation Street and Emmerdale could be made available on Internet-enabled TV, iPad and other formats.
"As awareness of ITV Player grows, so will consumption of ITV’s content on demand," said Pembroke.
Elsewhere, Sarah Rose, Channel 4’s director of commercial business development, said that the firm felt this marked the first time a platform holder was ready to partner up with the broadcaster:
"They are much bigger now and moving into the entertainment space, plus it sits well with our 16 to 34-year-old audience strengths,” she said.
