A next-gen FPS is coming from LucasArts, what are you hoping for?

Three job listings on Gamasutra have confirmed that LucasArts is currently developing, or planning to develop, a first-person-shooter for current and next-gen hardware.

The developer/publisher’s profile on the site has listings for an Art Lead, Senior Animator, and Senior Core Engineer to work on the FPS in question. Almost no hints are offered as to the actual content of this mystery title, but damning evidence of its next-gen status is readily apparent. The Senior Core Engineer in particular will be responsible for "implementing cutting edge features and optimizations on current and Future Generation console and PC hardware." At least the Art Lead listing gives us some hint of gameplay possibilities, mentioning that "complex high quality 3D model geometry of . . . vehicles" will be necessary creations.

Star Wars 1313 was announced prior to E3 2012 and will cast players as a bounty hunter in the Republic capital of Coruscant. 1313 is expected to be a next-gen title, but as a third-person cover-based shooter, it leaves the door wide open for a Star Wars-related FPS to enter the fold. And honestly, I’m pretty damn excited. First-person exploration of Star Wars planets and settings has been strangely limited in the franchise’s video game adaptations, so here’s hoping for a compelling and thrilling experience to fill that void.

Stay tuned to PSU for more details on this mystery title as they appear, and let us know in the comments what you want to see in a Star Wars FPS.
