A Destiny player who passed away after a life-long fight against Cystic Fibrosis has been honored by his clan and other players in a moving tribute.
36 year old Joshua R. Stokell of Charlotte, North Carolina held a PhD in microbiology and was in the process of studying Cystic Fibrosis to try and help others afflicted with the disease. He passed on June 8th this year. He was a member of the Dads of Destiny clan and played under the name TheSquashPhD.
Upon learning of his death, DoD reached out to the Destiny sub-Reddit for video clips from the game that would pay tribute to Stokell and they delivered, resulting in the video below.
In another post the clan member known as Ln_Wanderer thanked those who had sent clips and condolences.
A lovely example of a gaming community coming together in a positive way. Rest in Peace Josh.
