GamesCom Opening Night Live 2025 has played host to the official reveal of Lords of the Fallen 2, the following up to 2023’s Lords of the Fallen and technically the third entry in the action-RPG series after the 2014 original.

2023’s Lords of the Fallen was developed by Hexworks and released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, although the game endured a troubled development cycle. Then referred to Lords of the Fallen 2, the project was originally slated for release in 2017, but was later downsized and Defiant Studios started development from scratch.
However, the company was booted off the project after only one year, with Hexworks taking over the project using Unreal Engine 5, with it eventually launching in October 2023. Back in April of this year, it was revealed that Lords of the Fallen still had yet to break even 18 months after launch.
