Call of Duty publisher Activision has said that it is planning more remasters for 2021, although wouldn’t comment any further on what franchises we can expect to see given a modern overhaul.
The company has had huge success in recent years with remasters, with the likes of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and Spyro Reignited Trilogy all selling like hot cakes, and in Crash’s case, reinvigorating the series by securing a brand new instalment in Crash Bandicoot 4.
Dennis Durkin, Activision Blizzard’s chief financial officer, told investors and analysts during the company’s latest financial call overnight that remasters are indeed in the pipeline and will be unveiled ‘in due course.’
Call of Duty seems like an obvious choice as far as remasters go, as we’ve already seen Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 given an overhaul in recent years. As such, we’d be very surprised if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 didn’t follow next.
