Activision still holds the rights to Crash Bandicoot

Activision revealed to Game Informer that the company still owns Crash Bandicoot, despite rumors that Sony had acquired the rights to the franchise.

An Activison representative stated that “Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life."

The rumor started when the franchise’s official website went offline and an allusion to Crash’s presence on PlayStation in a PlayStation 4 launch commercial.

The last Crash Bandicoot game exclusively released on a PlayStation platform was Crash Team Racing on the original PlayStation. The last one released on any PlayStation console was Crash: Mind Over Mutant on the PlayStation 2.
