Remedy has revealed during its financial statement for the fourth quarter of 2024 that Alan Wake 2 has sold over two million copies worldwide, recouping its development costs in the process.
Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy commented:
By the end of 2024, Alan Wake 2 had recouped its development fees and marketing investments, meaning that Remedy started to accrue royalties towards the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, the operating profit was EUR -1.4 million, improving by EUR 11.4 million from the comparison period, in which we had a EUR 7.2 million impairment loss from codename Vanguard.

Alan Wake 2 was released in October 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S originally as a digital-only title, although the game was eventually given a physical release last year. The game takes place 13 years after the events of the original game, with Wake still trapped in the Dark Place while FBI agent Saga Anderson arrives in Bright Falls to investigate a series of ritualistic murders.
Remedy patched the game last November to implement PS5 Pro support, which includes support for 120Hz, PSSR toggle, and an improved Performance Mode among other highlights.
