The head of Amazon Game Studios has promised fans of 007 First Light that the studio is ‘going to be smart’ when it comes to a possible sequel, but noted that we should allow James Bond’s latest video game outing to “breathe and have its day” for now.
Speaking with IGN, Jeff Gattis also took the time to clarify that he did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios would be publishing any future James Bond titles. This stems from an interview with Polygon where Gattis noted that future entries in the Bond series would likely be “done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios.” Clearly, this was not a confirmation, but rather just Gattis explaining what could happen.
First of all, let me set the record straight for you. I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that. So unfortunately, it got picked up, and once it runs, it runs. No, IO’s been great. They’ve been great partners. In fact, I was over there visiting them in Copenhagen a couple of months ago. The game’s doing great. Let’s let the game breathe and have its day.
“Trust that we’re going to be smart about this,” he continued. “I mean, it’s market appetite. As long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.” When pressed if 007 First Light being on track to record a healthy profit is about as good of a green light as necessary for a sequel, he stated, “seems like a sequel should be made.“
007 First Light was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in late May 2026, and has now sold over three million copies worldwide.
