Assassin’s Creed 2 dev team is triple the size of original

Ubisoft’s Sebastian Puel has revealed that the development team behind stealthy sequel Assassin’s Creed 2 is roughly three times as big as that of the original, clocking in at 450 individuals.

Speaking to NowGamer, Puel commented, “The team’s size for the second title of Assassin’s Creed 2 is about three times the size of the team of the first game.”

“Making [Assassin’s Creed] from A to Z took around four years… It’s a very good thing we are keeping most of the core members who envisioned the first Assassin’s Creed. They know the project very well.”

Perhaps most intriguing, however, is the fact that “thousands of ideas” which failed to make the cut in the original Assassins Creed will show up in the sequel, said Puel. Sounds like we’re in for a treat.

Assassin’s Creed 2 will be hitting store shelves in late 2009 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms. More info on the game is expected to show up at E3 next month.
