Even while it looks like Ubisoft is drowning, there are a number of titles that have either been confirmed or rumoured still to come from the developer that players would love to get their hands on.
Last June, chief executive officer of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot confirmed that there are remakes of older Assassin’s Creed titles in development. He didn’t say which ones, but for fans of the franchise, all eyes turned towards Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Then in October 2024, a report from Insider-Gaming claimed that Ubisoft had planned to release 10 Assassin’s Creed games within the next 5 years, one of those 10 being a remake for Black Flag.
Fast-forward to now, and a new report from Insider-Gaming claims that out of the coming remakes, the Black Flag remake could arrive much sooner than anyone might’ve guessed, as soon as next year, even.
Well, it actually could’ve been out in November of this year, according to the report. If not for Assassin’s Creed Shadows being delayed again, that is, which pushed everything back according to a quote from Ubisoft’s Marc-Alexis Côté, executive producer for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. That signals that we’re probably looking at a 2026 release, if it’s all still on track.
There’s a lot to speculate about and not a lot of concrete answers, but since we do know that Ubisoft is working on bringing back older titles from the franchise, and that Black Flag is arguably the entry most beloved by fans, it’s not surprising that Ubisoft chose to pull a George Lucas and start at number four.
Hopefully if Ubisoft hosts another Ubisoft Forward event later this year, we can finally learn more about these coming remakes then.
