Assassin’s Creed clearly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

Ubisoft’s Laurent Detoc has indicated Assassin’s Creed has a long a healthy future ahead of it, and believes punters will have no qualms picking up annualized entries in the franchise providing the quality is there.

Chatting with Gamasutra, Detoc was quizzed if the French publisher would be keen on pumping out an Assassin’s Creed eight, nine or even ten, to which the executive replied:

“I hope we will,” adding, “I also hope we’ll be able to branch out from within the franchise.”

“It’s very simple to me," continued Detoc. "There’s no such thing as not being able to annualize a franchise. If it’s good, people will come."

The latest entry in the historical stab-‘em-up series sees players thrust into the midst of the American Revolution as new assassin Connor. Assassin’s Creed III is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in October 2012.
