Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is going to include the first ever real-life assassin to have existed, according to a report on Insider Gaming.
The African assassin in question is named Yasuke, and is historically known to have actually existed in ancient times despite his story largely being steeped in fiction. As previously reported, Ubisoft is rumoured to be planning to feature two playable characters in Red, one of which is believed to Yasuke, and the other a female Shinobi.
Yasuke’s character is reportedly written to align with Assassin’s Creed Red’s story and direction, although nothing official has been confirmed about his appearance in the game, so keep that in mind.
Back in September, Insider Gaming reported that Assassin’s Creed Red was in a fully playable state and we would receive official details on the project in early 2024. In terms of a release date, it is expected the game will arrive in holiday 2024, but again, Ubisoft is keeping mum on the topic.
Speaking of Assassin’s Creed in general, Ubisoft reportedly has many new projects in the pipeline beyond AC Red. The studio is rumoured to be working on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Invictus, and Assassin’s Creed Nebula among others.
