According to a now-pulled report from Moviepilot, Robert Downey Jr, the star of Marvel’s Iron Man franchise, has signed up for a role in the forthcoming movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.
The site claims that Downey Jr will assume the role of Leonardo Da Vinci, which seemingly confirms that the film will be based around the Assassin’s Creed II story arc.
As gamers will recall, Da Vinci appeared in Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood as a friend to protagonist Ezio Auditore.
Regardless, the project is currently scheduled to roll out in cinemas in August 2015, and will star Michael Fassbender in the lead role.
