Astro Bot has reportedly had a “solid” start to its sales in the UK, as GamesIndustry.Biz head Chris Dring reports that it debuted in second place for last weeks sales, just behind Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.
Dring also notes that its numbers are “21% higher” than the launch of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is arguably the best comparison point considering that both Astro Bot and Rift Apart are 3D platformers focused on a younger crowd of players.
“Astro Bot’s UK launch is solid. First week sales are 21% higher than the debut of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart in 2021. Astro was No.2 last week behind Space Marine 2, which is the UK’s fastest-selling Warhammer game (beating Total War: Warhammer 3),” Dring wrote on Twitter.
While Astro Bot might be critically acclaimed, historically 3D platformers of its ilk aren’t exactly massive sellers, unless there’s a red plumber on the box.
It’ll be interesting to see how it continues to sell, particularly into the holiday season.
