Ubisoft postponed the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in order to make it ‘perfect,’ according to the publisher’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, during a earnings call last Thursday.
We want to make [Avatar] a video game industry brand. It is important for us that we come with something that is perfect.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was originally slated to appear later this year to coincide with the release of Avatar: The Way of Water in cinemas. However, as a result of the delay, the game will now be released at some point after March 2023.
Back in June 2021, it was explained by the development team why the game is not coming to PS4 and Xbox One. In short, the power of Sony and Microsoft’s latest home consoles offers more opportunities in regards to map design, AI, and visual effects such a ray-tracing, so the team decided against a cross-gen release.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with a release date yet to be announced.
