Babylon’s Fall Dev Says ‘We’re Extremely Sorry’ In Wake Of News The Game Is Shutting Down

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba has broken silence on the planned closure of Babylon’s Fall, saying the studio is ‘extremely sorry’ for any disappointment among the game’s loyal fanbase.

Speaking during an interview with VGC, Inaba-san said that the failure of Babylon’s Fall hasn’t deterred the company’s plans for live service products going forward.

The only thing we can comment on here in terms of the closure of the Babylon’s Fall service itself, is that this unfortunate conclusion might have been something that had triggered some disappointment, perhaps maybe even anger, to our dedicated fans and players.

And any disappointment that we might have caused for our fan base is something we feel extremely sorry about, the fact that we led our dedicated fans to feel that way as a developer. Providing any sentiment other than enjoyment and fun in our creations to players is something that we’re not very happy about at all as a developer.

Babylon’s Fall was released on PS5 and PC back in March 2022, although was heavily panned by critics upon its release for its poor visuals, underwhelming gameplay and, well, just about everything else. You can read our own verdict here.

Publisher Square Enix announced last month that Babylon’s Fall will be shutting down in February 2023, less than a year since its release.
