Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian Studios and game director on Baldur’s Gate III, admitted the CRPG bagged so many awards that it affected the game’s development.
Speaking with EDGE magazine, Vincke said that the team has to rotate development staff as some were dispatched to collect awards at various shows.
“It affects development – there’s a lot of them. This has been a real problem,” said Vincke, adding that when it was obvious Baldur’s Gate III would keep scooping awards, Larian would begin “rotating teams” to collect the gongs, noting “different people went to different award shows.”

Speaking of awards, Baldur’s Gate III recently added two more gongs to its already-swelling cabinet, having picked up awards for Best Game & Best Narrative at the 2024 Develop Star Awards last week in Brighton, UK.
Baldur’s Gate III was released for the PC in August last year and arrived on PS5 the following month. Despite the game’s overwhelming success, Larian Studios is moving away from the franchise and the Dungeons & Dragons brand as a whole for its next project.
