Batman: Return to Arkham release date announced for PS4

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has finally announced a Batman: Return to Arkham release date following the game’s delay back in July, with the superhero collection now due out on October 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Return to Arkham features high-definition versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, both of which were previously released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 during the last console generation.

In addition to both games, the collection also features all available downloadable content for both critically acclaimed titles.

Return to Arkham was originally pencilled in for a July 2016 release before being pushed back. Initially it was thought the bundle would not show up until November at the earliest, although pleasingly that is no longer the case.

Batman: Arkham Origins is not featured in the collection, although that particular title was developed by Warner Bros. Montreal as opposed to series creator, Rocksteady Studios. Speaking of Rocksteady, the company is currently putting the finishing touches on Batman: Arkham VR, which we sampled last week

Batman: Arkham Asylum was released back in 2009 and is widely considered as one of the best superhero games ever made, as well as being cited for reinvigorating the genre within the video game industry following a series of low quality offerings.

The sequel turned up two years later and built on the foundations of its predecessor by introducing a massive open-world to explore.
