Battlefield 2042 Alpha Leaked On PlayStation Servers, Reveal Likely Due At EA Play

A previously unannounced Battlefield 2042 Alpha test has been uploaded to the PlayStation servers, indicating publisher Electronic Arts is set to unveil the teaser during EA Play later this month.

While the game isn’t listed by name, as it’s been filed as LoremIpsum31, images alongside the listing pretty much confirm that it’s Battlefield 2042.

Right now only the PS5 version of the Alpha has been listed, which weighs in at 38.5GB. PS4 players seem to be out of luck right now, although there’s still a chance that the Battlefield 2042 Alpha could come to last-generation consoles, too.

The server listing reveals an October 1, 2021 launch date for the Alpha, but we wouldn’t read too much into that as it’s probably a placeholder.

Battlefield 2042 is pencilled in for a release on October 22, 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. The game will not feature a dedicated single-player campaign, instead focussing on huge multiplayer battles for up to 128 players.

The lead developer behind the first-person shooter is DICE LA, which EA announced yesterday has bee renamed to Ripple Effect.
