Reports coming in regarding next-generation versions of Battlefield 4 have pegged the PlayStation 4 release as the superior product.
Eurogamer has confirmed that the PS4 release of the military shooter runs at 1600×900, giving it a clear advantage of the Xbox One’s 1290×720 (or 720p).
Not only that, but visually Battlefield 4 is the prettier of the two versions, boasting ‘ambient occlusion effects’ that are not replicated with the same fidelity on Xbox One. The play test was carried out on a ‘near-final’ build of the game, limiting the possibility for last-minute tweaks.
Battlefield 4 is due out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the U.S. today and in Europe on Friday. The PS4 and Xbox One versions will be made available at each console’s launch. Read our review of Battlefield 4 on PS3 here.
