Battlefield 5 targeting Q4 2016, but will it be PS4 and Xbox One only?

The next chapter in the multi-million selling Battlefield franchise will launch in the fourth quarter of 2016, publishing giant Electronic Arts has announced.

Battlefield 5 will more than likely arrive in October-November of that year, which puts it in line with the release of Battlefield 3 and 4 in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

For now, fans have the cops vs robbers shooter Battlefield Hardline to look forward to, which recently wrapped up its beta phase and will hit stores in March.

It has been speculated that Battlefield 5 will be exclusive to current-generation game consoles (i.e., PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) and eschew last-generation versions for the first time in the series. However, this has yet to be confirmed.

Little is known about the game right now, but EA has said that it will be a military-themed outing, which should surprise little of its fans. Analysts previously predicted a 2016 launch for the title.

Stay tuned.
