So, what’s the deal with Battlefield REDSEC? Well, for starters, EA is boasting that it offers a “bold new take on the Battle Royale genre” accompanied by a squad-based competitive mode, Gauntlet, as well well as new opportunities for Portal. REDSEC puts players in the “biggest map ever” for the series, Fort Lyndon, which is a destructive environment where players will engage in “explosive” matches that fuse the best of the battle royale genre with Battlefield DNA.

Players drop into a massive battle with 100 players, explore a massive world for powerful loot, and take down enemy squads through Battlefield‘s signature gameplay experience. The power of Tactical Destruction brings an entirely new level of strategy to the genre, as players create their own paths to victory or turn the environment into their own deadly weapon while crushing opposing squads. Each round is a bombastic ride on an incredible cinematic scale that Battlefield is known for.

Elsewhere, Battlefield REDSEC also offers Gauntlet Mode, which is described as a “fast-paced elimination mode” where eight teams of four-player squads duke it out in dynamic round-based missions. Each round offers five-minute windows for squads to accomplish their mission objectives, while dealing with “unique variables” in regards to each round, location, and mission.

If that wasn’t enough, you can pop on over to Battlefield Portal to change the rules of engagement using a toolset that allows you to tinker with various parameters within Fort Lyndon. For example, you can make a battlefield where only sledgehammers can be used or fight against the best in a headshot contest; there’s tons of possibilities available within the Fort Lyndon sandbox with the scripting and customisation tools at your disposal.
